  • You know that feeling you get when you look at an amazing portrait. That feeling of an instant connection with the subject and their personality. The small, but important detail that makes you stop and stare just a bit longer. It could be the light, the environment, a sense of movement or that quirky little smile. It’s powerful, it’s compelling, it’s my art.

Murphy Dog Studios is a high-end boutique portrait studio for your canine companions. We specialize in creating amazing portraits that capture a lifetime of memories.

Next destination: Your town!

In 2011, Murphy Dog Studios is taking the show on the road and coming to you. Where will I go? I don’t know, it’s up to you. Boston, Chicago, Manhattan, Phoenix or maybe some amazing little town in Rhode Island. If you are not in-and-around the San Francisco Bay Area and have always wanted to get some super cool portraits of your dog, this is your chance. You tell me where to go. Book a portrait session with me in 2011 and I’m putting you on the map.

How much is this going to cost you? 500 bones (not the dog kind). That is as long as I can book three additional dog lovers in your area. I will need your help to get the word out. In return, you will receive an extra special gift you will cherish forever. Tell your friends, tell your family, post a flyer in your local Starbucks. Be creative. Have fun with it. Soon I’ll be there to create amazing custom artwork of your dog. This is your chance to own something uniquely personal and fun.

Drop me an email and let’s chat about it.

September in Seattle

“September in Seattle” – If that isn’t a name of a song, it should be.

Murphy Dog Studios is heading back to the Seattle area in September to once again capture amazing images of the lucky Pacific Northwest dogs. After two successful trips I wanted to get in one more before the end of the year and before I begin traveling to other parts of the country in 2011. This will be your last opportunity to have me photograph your dogs until the end of 2011. I plan to make this a short trip and only four spots are available. I expect the spots to fill up fast so you need to act fast.

The cost of the portrait session is $500 and that includes my time, creative talents, travel, retouching of all the fabulous final images and a post-session ordering appointment that will be done over the internet using an online meeting service.

The trip is expected to take place the weekend of September 11th and 12th.

Lilly – Cutest puppy ever

I’ve been around a lot of cute puppies, but I will not lie when I say that Lilly was the cutest puppy I have ever met. Lilly is lucky enough to live with her awesome Mom right on Lake Washington near Seattle. What a great place to grow up as a dog. If the Bay Area wasn’t so hot, I would really think about getting a Bernese Mountain Dog. Thanks for being such a great model Lilly. Can’t wait to come back and see you when you are 200lbs.

A Bulldog in Paradise

How could it be that in the four years I have run Murphy Dog Studios, I have never had the chance to photograph an English Bulldog. A couple times I got to do mini studio sessions with a bulldog, but never a full, no-holds-bar portrait session. I couldn’t have been more excited when I received an inquiry from a couple in Aptos who had a two and half year old English Bulldog named Ronnie. After finding my website they fell in love with my images and decided I was the one to photograph their pup. We decided on a beach session and crossed our fingers for good weather which has been nothing but hit-or-miss this year due to all the rain. I can’t tell you how lucky we were on the day of our shoot. The night before it was pouring rain, but the skies cleared, the temperature was warm and our shoot was a go.

I couldn’t be more thrilled with the final images from Ronnie’s portrait session. Now that Ronnie’s lucky owners have seen the images, I can finally show them to the world.

Enjoy!
