Murphy Dog Pet Photography Blog bio picture

  • You know that feeling you get when you look at an amazing portrait. That feeling of an instant connection with the subject and their personality. The small, but important detail that makes you stop and stare just a bit longer. It could be the light, the environment, a sense of movement or that quirky little smile. It’s powerful, it’s compelling, it’s my art.

Murphy Dog Studios is a high-end boutique portrait studio for your canine companions. We specialize in creating amazing portraits that capture a lifetime of memories.

A shiny new look

After nearly a year in the making, I’d like to welcome you to the new look of Murphy Dog Studios. With help from the amazing designers at Luxecetera, we have completely rebranded Murphy Dog Studios. Over the past five years I have used the small amount of design experience I had to create all of the visuals for Murphy Dog Studios. Logo, blog, website, price guide, welcome guide, business cards, etc. I kept everything as simple as possible but always wanted something more. Something that would better reflect my message and the idea that Murphy Dog Studios is about creating amazing portraits of dogs. That’s all we do and we do it really well. All you need to do is look through our portfolios to see the difference.

If you didn’t come to the blog through our new website, be sure to stop on by and take a look. There are a number of new portfolios, each containing images never before seen in public. I even added a small gallery of photos of Murphy Dog, my best friend and the inspiration for all my dog portraits.

I hope you enjoy the new look. It was a labor of love and I couldn’t be happier with the final design. It was time to step it up and take Murphy Dog Studios to the next level. A big thank you to Jo and Ashley at Luxecetera (they were troopers putting up with me), and a huge thanks to all my past and present clients who believed in my art and who really made Murphy Dog Studios what it is today.

Pet Photography – Best of 2010

Voting has ended! Results will be posted soon.

It’s that time of year again. Time to go through all my images from the past year, pick my favorites and then let you vote for the best of 2010. It was an amazing year filled with some of the most memorable photo shoots of my life. I owe it all to my wonderful clients and their furry family companions. Thanks.

Let the voting begin!

Tell your friends and family. Post a link on Facebook. Get people to vote for your favorite image. The owner of the winning image will receive a very special gift from Murphy Dog Studios. Voting will be open until the end of the day on February 28th.

Next destination: Your town!

In 2011, Murphy Dog Studios is taking the show on the road and coming to you. Where will I go? I don’t know, it’s up to you. Boston, Chicago, Manhattan, Phoenix or maybe some amazing little town in Rhode Island. If you are not in-and-around the San Francisco Bay Area and have always wanted to get some super cool portraits of your dog, this is your chance. You tell me where to go. Book a portrait session with me in 2011 and I’m putting you on the map.

How much is this going to cost you? 500 bones (not the dog kind). That is as long as I can book three additional dog lovers in your area. I will need your help to get the word out. In return, you will receive an extra special gift you will cherish forever. Tell your friends, tell your family, post a flyer in your local Starbucks. Be creative. Have fun with it. Soon I’ll be there to create amazing custom artwork of your dog. This is your chance to own something uniquely personal and fun.

Drop me an email and let’s chat about it.

September in Seattle

“September in Seattle” – If that isn’t a name of a song, it should be.

Murphy Dog Studios is heading back to the Seattle area in September to once again capture amazing images of the lucky Pacific Northwest dogs. After two successful trips I wanted to get in one more before the end of the year and before I begin traveling to other parts of the country in 2011. This will be your last opportunity to have me photograph your dogs until the end of 2011. I plan to make this a short trip and only four spots are available. I expect the spots to fill up fast so you need to act fast.

The cost of the portrait session is $500 and that includes my time, creative talents, travel, retouching of all the fabulous final images and a post-session ordering appointment that will be done over the internet using an online meeting service.

The trip is expected to take place the weekend of September 11th and 12th.

Lilly – Cutest puppy ever

I’ve been around a lot of cute puppies, but I will not lie when I say that Lilly was the cutest puppy I have ever met. Lilly is lucky enough to live with her awesome Mom right on Lake Washington near Seattle. What a great place to grow up as a dog. If the Bay Area wasn’t so hot, I would really think about getting a Bernese Mountain Dog. Thanks for being such a great model Lilly. Can’t wait to come back and see you when you are 200lbs.
